PET/CT (Positron Emission Tomography)

PET/CT is one of today's most advanced medical imaging techniques . It can differentiate Alzheimer's from other dementia . PET/CT is most often used to accurately identify the presence or extent of cancer, pinpoint exactly where the cancer is, determine if It has spread, and show how effective chemotherapy or other treatments are. PET/CT may also determine whether or not it is surgically possible to remove a tumor in its entirety.

Best images: AADI has set a new standard in outpatient diagnostic imaging for oncology. This is the only outpatient diagnostic PET/CT scanner in Anne Arundel County. PET/CT blends two types of images, fusing patient anatomy and physiology into a single image.

The facts: This scanner is dedicated to imaging outpatients, which means more appointment availability. The scanner reduces radiation dose and improves patient comfort for those up to 500 pounds.

Preparing: Do not eat or drink (except water) for at least 4 hours before your exam. Avoid caffeine, sugar, tobacco and exercise for 24 hours before your exam. Eat a high protein, low carbohydrate meal the day prior.
