I.V.P. EXAMS Nothing to eat or drink after midnight the night before the exam.
Take any medication that you normally do unless directed differently by your physician.
Mammography
Do not use colognes, perfumes, deodorants, or body powders prior to exams.
A two-piece outfit should be worn for comfort.
Nuclear Medicine Specific prep information will be given when your appointment is scheduled.
Pelvic Sonogram*; Transvaginal (if indicated) Finish drinking 32 ounces of clear liquids (no carbonated drinks) 1 hour prior to the start of your appointment time. Do not empty your bladder prior to the study.
Small Bowel Series (SBS) Nothing by mouth after midnight. Take two Dulcolax suppositories 2 hours before the exam.
Transrectal Sonogram (Prostate)* Patient should take a Fleet enema 1 hour prior to the examination.
Upper GI Series (UGI) Nothing by mouth after midnight, do not smoke or chew gum.
*Children under age 2 – Bring an empty bottle. Nothing by mouth 4 hours prior to exam.
